Action Printers, Inc. was established in 1972 by William L. Schroeder and is now in its 35th year of operation in Indian River County.

It all began after William "Bill" served four years in the United States Navy. Bill returned to his job at Home Mutual Insurance Co. in Wisconsin as their systems and procedures manager. He managed the company's in-house printing operation for nineteen years. In the late 1960's, Bill saw an opportunity to go into business for himself. At this time, the printing industry was revolutionized by a new technology of plate making resulting in what was called "instant printing". Bill was, as the company's motto still states, "always a step ahead" and he saw the future of printing changing. He opened his first print shop called Insta Print of Appleton - which is still in operation today!

Bill and his family moved to Vero Beach in 1972 and purchased the Letter Shop of Vero Beach and eventually renamed it Action Printers. Computerized typesetting was in its early years and Bill was quick to incorporate that new technology into his printing business as well. As the printing industry continues to evolve, so does Action Printers.

Bill's youngest daughter, Kim (Schroeder) Barrett, worked closely by his side part-time after school each day up until she graduated high school in 1981. She then took on full-time employment and gained more "on-the-job" training, eventually becoming the store manager and as of January 1997, the owner.

Kim continues to keep up with the ever changing printing trends and in 2004, implemented full color capabilities in-plant. She has also expanded the company from one store to three and invites you to visit any of the locations nearest you!
